General Thomas Jonathan 'Stonewall' Jackson

A sad day in Southern History, today is the 150th anniversary of the death of one the finest battlefield Generals in history. General Thomas J. 'Stonewall' Jackson died on this day in 1863 from wounds received eight days earlier during the ...balltle of Chancellorsville. General Jackson's last words were "'Order A.P. Hill to prepare for action! Pass the infantry to the front rapidly!" (Then finally) "Let us cross over the river, and rest under the shade of the trees." (he was going 'Home †') His superior officer and friend General Robert E. Lee summed it up best when he said, "He has lost his left arm, but I have lost my right arm." † God Bless † your memory sir, we shall forever honor you in the South...
