'Stonewall' Jackson died on this day in 1863 from wounds received eight days earlier during the ...balltle of Chancellorsville. General Jackson's last words were "'Order A.P. Hill to prepare for action! Pass the infantry to the front rapidly!" (Then finally) "Let us cross over the river, and rest under the shade of the trees."
